Day #7560 of my life.

[Skip to the final paragraph for the only interesting story in this post.]

Here we are at the end of yet another school year.  It's incredible to think that I've been doing this dance for 15 years, 16 if you count preschool.  Once you realize that the only reason you even go to school is to stay in school longer, that gets a little depressing.  It's like asking for more torture so that you can qualify for better torture after that.  Whatever; I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Soon, I'll be engaged in a day-to-day slog that I'll actually benefit from.

I finished my reproduction of the Pave de Chailly that I was working on, and it doesn't look too bad if I do say so myself.  I dunno what the hell I'm gonna do with it; the canvas is 4ft x 6ft.  I have a single wall in my apartment that it would even fit on.  Mayhaps I'll ask the parents to give it a place to live for a little while.  However, thinking about how much of a decorating whirlwind my stepmother is, I can't imagine there could be so much free space on a single wall of that house.

I'm starting now on my final project of the year, which will be a reproduction of the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade poster.  I do believe I'm going to give that to my dad for Father's Day/his birthday/whenever I see him next.  It's slightly smaller at 3ft x 5ft, and since it's just for him it can go in his garage, or his mancave.  Whichever.  He's always been a fan of both the Indiana Jones films and of Sean Connery, so I thought it was a fitting gift.

I have one last fantastic thing to report on before I leave you without updates for another few months.  (Hopefully, that's a joke.)  I have found my religion: fortune cookies.

Allow me to explain.  On February 4th, after dining at a Korean restaurant here in Emporia, I received a fortune cookie.  First of all, I motherf#%#in' love fortune cookies.  They are definitely 15% of the experience of going to eat Chinese food (or in this case, Korean).  So I get my fortune and it says, "Remember three months from this date; good things are in store for you."  I was immediately excited, for what was three months from that date but May the 4th?!  As in Star Wars Day!  It was incredibly exciting and I've had the fortune in my slider phone keyboard ever since, waiting for May 4th to roll around.  However, a thought occurred to me yesterday: 2012 is a leap year, which meant February was irregularly long by one day.  An extra day in February meant that my day of good fortune, as it were, was not May the 4th, but May the 3rd.  How do I know this to be true?  Because this thought occurred to me only after I had a strangely wonderful day yesterday.  I started the day with a delicious bar of chocolate for breakfast, followed by a 15 minute foot massage and a full body AquaMassage before lunch.  For lunch, the cafeteria was serving chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes, and they were AMAZING.  After I left for class, I was given 2 free packets of Nutella samples, and everyone knows that Nutella makes for a fantastic day.  I followed that with my scene painting class, always a delight, which was in turn followed with many compliments on various crafts and artsy things I had made.  Finally, that night, a cast member bought doughnut holes to rehearsal to make up for her being late the previous night.  After a day like that, I'm not inclined to believe that fortune cookies mess around when it comes to predicting wonderful days.  This was no placebo effect, with my day seeming better than it actually was because I was expecting it to be, because I simply wasn't!  The cookie knew I would need that day.  Thank you, fortune cookie; my life has been improved by your actions.

:highfive: Thanks very much! I've just learned that one of the major supporters and sponsors of the bill has withdrawn his support, so maybe we're being heard. :)
